(October 29, 2025) At 08:57 A.M., Roanoke County Fire and Rescue responded to the 8300 block of Cardington Dr. in the Hollins area for reports of a residential structure fire. First arriving units from Station 5 (Hollins) reported heavy smoke rising from the roof upon arrival, and marked it a working fire at 09:01 A.M. The fire was under control in about 10 minutes. There are three occupants of the home who will be displaced, and one person was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. We extend our appreciation to Roanoke Fire/EMS Engines 11 and 3 for providing mutual aid on this call. The Roanoke County Fire Marshal’s Office is on scene investigating the cause and will provide a damage estimate.
