1 3 lb. beef chuck roast, trimmed of excess fat*
1 tablespoon olive oil
6 French rolls or hoagie buns
12 slices provolone cheese
Slow Cooker
1/3 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
1 cup Coke
1 10.5 oz. can beef consommé
1 10.5 oz can french onion soup
1 tablespoon beef bouillon
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
1 bay leaf
Heat oil over med high heat in large skillet and salt and pepper the roast…sear it on all sides then put in crock pot. Mix all slow cooker ingredients in mixing bowl. Pour over roast. Cook on low 3-4 hours. Remove roast, slice thinly and return meat to crock pot. Cook on low an additional hour. Brown buns in broiler then fill with beef, top with cheese and serve with small cup of the crock pot juice.
