Its the second and last weekend thus Thursday through Sunday at Showtimers for The Revolutionists, a four-woman play – and one very large puppet – set in 1793 Paris during the reign of terror – as these women work together for democracy and rights for all – and not only in France. Its also the last weekend Thursday through Sunday for The Picture of Dorian Gray at Attic Productions in Fincastle, Oscar Wilde’s story about the bargain a man makes to stay young and never age – while his portrait does – and the consequences of that decision.
At the Bear Theatre in downtown Roanoke at Community High School this is the opening weekend Friday through Sunday for a locally written whodunit play, Death by Design. In the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, there’s a murder or three at a remote bed and breakfast, and the suspects are the quirky guests who are trapped there by a storm. The annual Open Studios-Botetourt tour is back this Saturday and Sunday, 7 locations and 17 local artists will greet the public and have art works in a variety of media for sale.
